Recent Church Activities
On November 10th, Erame Ward celebrated their Ward Feast with a joyful gathering. The event was graced by Parish Priest Fr. James Dsouza, Vice President Mr. William Dsouza, Nirmala Niketan Convent Superior Sr. Flora Lewis, and Sr. Nita from St. Joseph Convent. Ward gurkars, including Erame Ward Gurkar Pramila Shaila Peris, along with representatives Vinod Albuquerque, Ronald Miranda, and Seema Lobo and Flossy Tauro from the 21 Commissions, were also present, along with all ward members.
The program concluded with a delightful lunch prepared by the ward members, marking a memorable celebration for everyone involved.

On November 3rd, these young parishioners received their First Holy Communion: Pearl Sequeira, Angela Sara Albuquerque, Resan Jaden Pinto, Joswin Albuquerque, Renwil Shine Rego, Sheldon Rosario, and Aaron Pinto. The ceremony was blessed with the presence of our Parish Priest, Fr. James Dsouza, along with Fr. Roshan Rosario and Fr. Ritesh Rosario.
Congratulations to these children and their families! May God’s blessings be with them always.

On November 3, 2024, members of Erame Ward and Ferar Ward united for a community-driven initiative to clean the church premises. This collaborative effort, supported by the Environment Commission, showcased the commitment of ward members to maintaining a clean space. Special thanks go to Cyril D'Silva, Vinod Albuquerque, and Lancy Rodrigues from ferar ward for providing the necessary grass cutting and tree trimming equipment.
Mr. Ronald Miranda, Secretary of the Environment Commission, was present to oversee the cleaning drive. In total, 13 members from Erame Ward and 3 members from Ferar Ward actively participated in the event, demonstrating a strong spirit of cooperation and dedication to environmental stewardship.

On October 27th, we celebrated the Feast of Our Lady of Pompeii with great devotion and joy in our parish. Along with the main feast celebration, vehicles were also blessed on the 26th and 27th, inviting God’s protection over all who travel. We are truly grateful for the generous support extended by the Milk Society, Ganjimut. The Holy Eucharistic celebration was presided over by our beloved Parish Priest, Fr. James D’Souza, along with the esteemed Fr. Jerald Lobo, Capuchin, from St. Ann’s Friary, Mangaluru.

On October 13th, the Altar Boys and Marian Sodality Day was celebrated with devotion and community engagement. The day began with a solemn Mass, followed by various activities and talks focused on vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Fr. Harry D'Souza, the Diocesan-level Secretary for the Commission for Proclamation & Evangelisation, was the Chief Guest, delivering a powerful and inspiring talk on answering the call to priesthood.
The event was presided over by Parish Priest Fr. James D'Souza, and key parish leaders supported the program, including Mr. William D'Souza, Vice President of the Church Pastoral Council, Mr. Henry Mascarenhas, Secretary, and Mrs. Pramila Shaila Peris, the 21 Commission Coordinator.
Ullas Pinto, the head of both the Commission for Witness and the Commission for the Formation of Priests and Religious, was also present, along with Lancy Rodrigues from the Commission for Witness and Flossy Tauro from the Commission for the Formation of Priests and Religious. Sr. Flora Lewis, Superior of Nirmala Niketan Convent, and Mr. Mark Pereira helped in organizing and conducting various activities that kept the participants engaged and enriched.
Mr. Alwyn Saldanha, Animator of Altar Servers, and Sr. Heritha, Animator of Marian Sodality, were instrumental in guiding the youth throughout the event. Their presence and leadership greatly contributed to the success of the program.

The St. Francis Xavier Church community of Ferar in Dubai, UAE, celebrated Monthi Fest, the Nativity of Mother Mary, on September 8th, 2024, with great enthusiasm and joy. Over 120 parishioners and guests attended the festive event at Smana Hotel in Burdubai.
The celebration began with an introduction and prayer by Mr. Norbert Sequeira, followed by a special guest address by Rev. Fr. Victor Fernades, Assistant Parish Priest of St. Mary's Church, Dubai. Mr. Dayan Dsouza, Director of Daijiworld Media, highlighted the significance of Monthi Fest.Mr. Joseph Mathias, Managing Director of Merit Freight Systems, emphasized the importance of preserving Konkani culture and honoring mothers. President Mr. Vijay Lawrence Cutinha welcomed the gathering and expressed gratitude to sponsors and well-wishers.
The event featured a floral showering ceremony, where children participated in strewing flowers on the statue of the infant Mary. Popular hymns were sung, and blessed Novem was distributed before serving a delicious vegetarian lunch. The programme concluded with a Baila dance and a heartfelt thank you to all who made the event unforgettable. The celebration was a great success under the leadership of President Mr. Vijay Lawrence Cutinha, with dedicated committee members transforming the venue with beautiful decorations. The event was hosted by Merlyn Pinto and Elton Dsouza, with entertainment by talented singer Mr. Lancy Noronha and a lively Bollywood medley by Sushmitha Sequeira & team.

Teacher's Day Celebration-2024
On September 1, 2024, the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) and Young Christian Students (YCS) celebrated Teachers' Day with great enthusiasm. The event featured heartfelt tributes, performances, and thoughtful tokens of appreciation for teachers. Parish Priest Fr. James D'Souza and William D'Souza, Vice President of the Church Pastoral Parishad, were present to honor the occasion. Their presence added to the significance of the day, which was a memorable expression of gratitude for the dedication and impact of educators.

The 78th Independence Day of India was celebrated on August 15th with great enthusiasm and patriotism at St. Francis Xavier Higher Primary School, Ferar. Rev. Fr. James D'Souza, the Correspondent, presided over the program as the President.

A Planting initiative by ICYM Ferar unit.
The members of ICYM – Ferar, along with President and the Animators- Mr. Nishit L. Lobo and Kevin Pinto, each planted a plant in their houses to raise awareness about the importance of planting. A total of 16 plants were planted and promoted, contributing to a greener environment and highlighting the significance of greenery.

PELYASO HUSKO: ICYM Cloth Drive Initiative
The ICYM Ferar unit recently conducted a successful cloth drive initiative, "PELYASO HUSKO," which took place from June 4-26, 2024. The primary objectives of this initiative were:
1. Support underprivileged families by providing them with necessary clothing.
2. Promote volunteerism among youth and encourage them to take an active role in giving back to their community.
3. Raise awareness about the importance of recycling and donating clothes to reduce waste and support sustainable practices.
Through this initiative, the ICYM Ferar unit aimed to make a positive impact on their community and inspire others to join them in making a difference.
